Liz Carter for Congress Goes Mobile with iPhone Application
Transparency in Congress – There’s a rep for that.
(ATLANTA) – Liz Carter announced today the launch of her new iPhone application, available at iTunes. This app will allow the public to access the Liz Carter for Congress campaign anytime, anywhere on the leading smartphone platform. The application showcases Liz’s campaign information, news, events, photos, videos, and allows her supporters to volunteer, contribute, and share information with their friends and followers using Twitter and Facebook. In addition to supporting the broadcast and viral sharing of information, the application will also allow an unprecedented level of feedback from the mobile community supporting real-time surveys and polls.
In honor of the launch, the Liz Carter for Congress campaign will be raffling off an iPod Touch at the Defending the American Dream Summit at the Cobb Galleria today. (http://www.americansforprosperity.org) Raffle tickets are available to attendees of the event.
“I am thrilled to be the first Congressional candidate in Georgia to launch an iPhone app,” announced Liz. “Everyone needs real transparency from Congress and this is the first step in delivering a solid plan to provide that transparency to the people.”
“We need to embrace ways to involve our constituents and drive down the cost and size of Government. This iPhone app is a piece of that puzzle. It’s part of my commitment to keep everyone informed about how I plan to get people back to work.”
Liz went on to explain that when elected, the 4th Congressional District will have a website that also provides access to the “people’s office.” When asked if the site would focus on her, she responded “Too many Congressional sites are all about the individual in office, not about the people they serve or the issues being discussed on the floor. Our site will serve as a vehicle to connect with the people of District 4, getting their feedback with the same polls and offering the same information available on the iPhone app. It’s time for this District to have a representation who truly listens to their constituents.”
The Liz Carter for Congress iPhone application is powered by technology and services provided by RaiseDigital and Purple Forge, the same companies responsible for California Senate Candidate Chuck Devore’s iPhone app. “Liz Carter is not a career politician, but a businesswoman who understands how this new technology will enhance her ability to communicate with Georgians and all Americans,” RaiseDigital’s Managing Director, Justin Hart, said. “Liz has really embraced this technology and we are happy to partner with Purple Forge to provide her campaign with yet another way to show her commitment to transparency.”

Democrat Leaders Liken Health Care Bill to Civil Rights Movement Then Discriminate
How Could This Be? Could It Be True That An Administration That Has Risen From The Civil Rights Movement Is Denying Equal Rights To The LGBT Community? Is It True That Democrats Are Not For Equality For All?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Obama Health Care Reform Bill Leaves Out Core LGBT Provisions
WHILE THE ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS CONTINUE TO MAKE SWEETHEART DEALS TO GATHER CRUCIAL VOTES FOR OBAMA-CARE, LGBT ISSUES ARE CAST ASIDE– AGAIN
(Washington, DC) – As Congress prepares to cast a critical vote on the future of the Obama Health Care Reform Bill, the version put forward by the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats lacks the key LGBT provisions that the House version had passed in late 2009.
“It is disheartening to see the Democratic congressional majority continue to sideline LGBT agenda items – especially critical health care issues – in the name of political expediency,” commented Terry W. Hamilton, National Board Chairman of Log Cabin Republicans. “How much longer do they expect gays and lesbians to support them as they continue to take a pass on every opportunity to support our community?”
Charles T. Moran, National Spokesperson for Log Cabin Republicans continued, saying “From the “Cornhusker Kickback” to the “Louisiana Purchase”, the Administration has sold all sorts of sweetheart deals to get this proposal rammed through Congress while it continues to sell the LGBT community down the river. Once again, our supposed great ally and their enablers at Gay Inc. have failed our community.”
Some of the key LGBT provisions that were jettisoned by the Democratic leadership in the Senate and the Administration include:
- A prohibition on discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in providing heath care
- Enabling people with HIV and low incomes to obtain Medicare coverage earlier in the course of their illness
- Eliminating the tax that gay employees must pay if their same-sex partners or spouses receive heath coverage from their employers’ plan
- A provision to collect data towards the goal of ending disparities in health care for LGBT people
While the President has met with members from the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Caucus to discuss inclusion of specific items pertinent to their communities in the legislation, no such offer was made to the LGBT Congressional Equality Caucus.
Carter to Congressman Johnson: Do Not “Cheat” America
Carter To Congressman Johnson: Do Not “Cheat” America On Health Care
Liz Carter calls on Johnson to cast “no” vote as procedures speed up legislation passing
(Atlanta)—Leading Republican Congressional candidate Liz Carter is asking U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson to do what is best for the people he represents by voting “no” to the health care reform being debated now.
Congressman Johnson and fellow Congressional Leaders are taking steps to speed passage of one of the worst written pieces of legislation ever before the Congress, the revised Federal health care control bill.
“This is an attempt by Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hank Johnson and other Washington elites to short circuit the system,” Carter said. “Hank Johnson knows this is not the right way to pass legislation, and he knows this is not the right bill for the American people. Moving for reconciliation on a bill that includes payoffs to specific States, deals for special interest groups, and that will penalize the American people is wrong. You simply don’t pass a bill and then say you’ll fix it later.”
“We need real health care reform, but not what is being railroaded through,” she said. “We need a common sense approach to address the issues we all agree are problems – portability of insurance coverage, pre-existing conditions and adequate IT infrastructure to increase efficiency and reduce fraud. These issues should be addressed in phases, with common sense and business processes.”
Carter said the ongoing health care debate is just the one of several legislative initiatives, including cap and trade, as well as card check revisions, where Congressman Johnson will do more harm than good by following Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid’s dangerous agenda.
“Congressman Hank Johnson has to realize that there is no excuse for passing laws that ultimately fuel unemployment and hurt our economy,” Carter said. “He and the rest of the Washington liberals will wreck the already-damaged worlds of small businesses and entrepreneurship. Georgians need to make a real change and elect a Congressional leader that is focused on their needs and interests, not just pleasing political party leaders and special interest groups.”
Calling All Conservatives – Strike Now
We can stop the reconciliation efforts if we strike now. Please forward this to the Conservative Media.
How? Congress listens to and is afraid of MONEY. We stalled the health care bill when money poured into the Scott Brown campaign. The democrats stopped in their tracks, called in the big guns (Pres. Obama) and LOST. They lost in Massachusetts!
We can do the same thing if we strike now in key States. I’m asking for your help – The Conservative Media has got to call the people to action and ask them to Strike Now by donating any amount to challengers against a “Yea” vote.
In Georgia alone, we have six “Yea” votes. Our Representatives are not worried. Why? Because the primary is not until late July and they believe they will be safe by November.
Stop and think about it for just a moment – in States that have a late Primary, the Democrat incumbent is not going to be worried until they see money flooding into their opponent. Money typically in a campaign cycle does not “flood” in until after the Primary.
I’m asking you to help stop reconciliation by asking people to do more than call, text, tweet and email their representatives – we already know they don’t listen. Lets send them a message that will stop them in their tracks. Moveon.org is already calling for donations, we must respond.
Even if you don’t reference my campaign directly, I urge you to call upon the American People to start donating to candidates running against a “Yea” House of Representative vote.
If we don’t send a message now, what is next before the November election? Cap & Trade, Card Check, and Amnesty?
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I look forward to talking with you in the near future and serving the people in Congress.
Best,
Liz Carter
Congressional Candidate in GA District 4
