Gobble Gobble
Happy Thanksgiving! Tomorrow is a day of gratitude for the blessings in our lives. It is a day we gather with family and friends to celebrate, eat, watch football, play games and enjoy the company of others. This year, more than any other, I’m thankful for the support of family, friends – old and new, leaders who inspire and individuals who aspire to do more to help others in need.
Even with all the economic uncertainty, we live in an amazing country. A country founded on the beliefs that all men are created equal, that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Those fundamentals are in place today and continue to be so, because of brave men and women who serve and have served to protect our nation and because of the spirit of the American people. Give thanks to our troops and your fellow Americans.
I encourage you tomorrow to celebrate family and friends, but also to celebrate the differences in others, have an open mind to learn from their views and embrace that we are created equal. Together, the American people can over come and prosper.

A Letter to President Obama
November 23, 2009
Dear President Obama,
Happy Thanksgiving! This time of the year always makes me reflect on what I’m grateful for and how I can do more for those in need. This year more than ever, I’m so grateful for my family and friends who have encouraged and supported us through a difficult year. I’m certain that you are grateful for your family as well, as everyone can see how much you love your girls. In fact, I was so pleased to hear you say; “When it comes to my children, I’m very conservative!” Which leads me to the reason of this letter. I’d like to talk with you about all the children of America and how we can work together to protect their future.
During your campaign, you voiced that Congress needed to hold itself to higher standards and needed to work together for the future of the generations to come. I know you don’t control Congress, but President Obama, you have a great deal of power and influence.
This congress established Sarbanes-Oxley that created new and enhanced standards for publicly traded companies for fiscal responsibility, yet many in congress do not hold themselves to the same standards. Here are some examples-
- $787 BILLION stimulus package did not include proper oversight to analyze, monitor and report the spending and results of such spending. In fact, multiple errors have been reported in the data provided to the public and the public has been asked to ignore such errors and focus on the big picture. President Obama, I know your administration and Congress had to react quickly to a crashing economy, but it was not acceptable for Congress to spend the hard earned dollars of the American People without applying the same standards we force onto public companies. Executives at public companies have gone to prison for false financial reporting.
- Cash for Clunkers program was poorly implemented by Congress and did not focus on American made vehicles, even though this program was created during the time that Congress was “bailing out” American Auto Manufacturers. The American People paid for individuals to trade in cars to purchase foreign vehicles that do not help the United States economy.
- During the American Auto Makers hearing, our Congressional leaders mocked the CEO’s who flew into DC on their private planes. A few months later, those same leaders, including your beloved Nancy Pelosi, asked the American people to pay for new private jets for congressional use. How is this different from what they asked the CEO’s to do?
- $90 Billion annual fraud in our current national health care programs and the current Health Care bill being debated in the Senate does not include measures to reduce the loss of American tax dollars. Why didn’t Congress carve money out of the stimulus package to create a Health Information Service Platform for each State, creating efficiency and tremendous savings? This would have created sustainable IT and health services jobs in each State and would have been a step toward true health care reform.
President Obama, as important as fiscal responsibility, you have called for Unity in this Country. You have asked that all Congressional leaders and the media to not bring race into political debates. I applaud you for doing so. Yet, my incumbent has used race to create racial tension and anger. Rep. Johnson said, “I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside, intimidating people,” in reference to the Ku Klux Klan. This same week, my son was corned on the bus by several boys and called a “Cracker”. We as leaders should not use today’s problems to try to throw us back to the embarrassments of the 1950’s and 1960’s. History should be used for knowledge and wisdom to create momentum and positive change, not to enact fear and anger.
President Obama, Congress is spending our children’s and their children’s future. They are creating divide within our Country. I understand that your daughters will not have to worry about this, because you’ve had the opportunity to be fiscally responsible and not feel the deep impact of this economy. But here is my fear; the children of the majority of the American people will not have the opportunity that we had, because of the Congressional spending.
President Obama, it’s time to put party politics aside and hold all in Congress accountable. We must work together to bring opportunity to all American people, opportunity that elevates and provides more for the next generation and prosperity to all, regardless of the color of your skin, religion and political views.
I look forward to working with you in 2010. I pray that you not ignore this letter, as I am running for Congress in 2010. I want to work with you and with all those in Congress who want what is best for the people, not just a political party.
So, I’m using this letter as a way to reach across the aisle, before I’m elected and at the beginning of my campaign, even though I’m running on the Republican ticket. Please respond, as I’d hate to have our first meeting start off with the subject of you not answering my letter.

Accountability Needs to Return to Congress!
Out of control spending with no checks and balances!
The Federal Government is a mess. Could you imagine if a financial institution reported misleading and inaccurate numbers? Can you imagine if a publicly traded company provided gross inaccuracies on their SEC filings, and then explained it by saying some of the reporting mechanisms are unrealistic? The Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial Branch would be frothing about Sarbanes-Oxley. Executives would be going to prison. If we, the people, did this we would be called out and hung to dry.
Yet, gross inaccuracies were found on a government Web site that tracks jobs purportedly saved or created by the $787 BILLION stimulus plan. WHAT? Congress spent $787 BILLION and cannot accurately report where it went and what jobs it created or saved! If this was a Web site created by a Public Company, it would be all over the press and our elected officials would be frothing at the mouth demanding answers. Instead, we the People of the United States are asked to look at the big picture and not to focus on gross inaccuracies. In an interview, Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin called the inaccuracies on Recovery.gov “infuriating” and said the success of the government’s stimulus package has been “obscured by the silly mistakes.” “In my judgment, someone who doesn’t know which congressional district they’re in doesn’t have enough of a clue to receive taxpayer money in the first place,”
I wonder if Rep. Obey would say the same thing if this was a report on and from Google or GE. I’m sorry, “success obscured by silly mistakes” – REALLY Congress? This is our money you are spending; these are tax dollars we could not afford that you are spending!
Unknown Billions on Health Control, instead of Reform for Quality Health Care!
The Senate has the opportunity to pass the largest bill ever, on “Health Care Reform”, hailed to provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending. Yet, when you read the 1,990 page beast, there is no call to fix the national programs we have today and there is no clarity on how much this legislation will cost or save the American People. In fact, on October 29, 2009 a letter was sent to Representative Charles Rangel, from the Congressional Budget Office, saying they had completed a preliminary analysis of HR 3962, but the analysis did not constitute a final and comprehensive cost estimate for the bill, because there are so many programs and grants that would have to be further appropriated. In the letter there is a minimum of $53 BILLION in additional spending that would have to be spent to implement the bill. WHAT? How the hell are we Americans going to afford this health care option congress is proposing and exactly what quality care are we paying for? A TAX Credit does not pay the premium that will be due when the rest of our bills are due! WAKE UP Congress, you are spending what is not yours to spend.
Cost Cutting put in front of the value of a Mothers Life!
Could you imagine if Blue Cross Blue Shield released an opinion statement on mammograms based on new data from mammography studies in England and Sweden that said early detection procedures create unnecessary anxiety and follow-up procedures that cost too much money? Every media outlet and politician would be screaming “How dare they put cost cutting measures in front of the value of a mothers life!”
This week the Women of America were slapped in the face with a Health Care Cost measurement. Our Government has decided the anxiety and cost caused by doing mammograms in your 40’s, out ways the benefit of saving a woman’s life by early detection procedures. REALLY? This sounds exactly like BIG BUSINESS deciding how much profit can be made versus potential monies lost in lawsuits. Remember, the Ford Pinto? The Judicial Branch found that Ford knew the Pinto was dangerous and may cause the death of individuals in the car if rear-ended. Ford weighed potential costs against the value of life or how much they would loose in lawsuits.
Congress, notice the word “care” in Health Care. You are there to protect our rights, our pursuit to happiness, and our right to life. I don’t know how any Woman in America could vote for the congressmen who are in office today that support this administrations view on health care. I for one, have too many friends who have been saved by early detections and mammograms in their 30’s and 40’s, including my mother-in-law. If these fabulous women would have waited until their 50’s, they would no longer be alive today and I would not have had the opportunity to know them.

I’m a US Citizen who has been deeply impacted by this economy. I don’t live in an ivory tower that insulated my family from this recession. I am a citizen who is standing up and saying “NO MORE”, it is time for honest change, and it is time to create prosperity for all Americans, not just elected officials who have a demented view of reality. It’s time for accountability to the American People, in which we serve.
Lets stand up and say NO to our hard earned dollars being taxed and then being spent by BIG BUSINESS and BIG GOVERNMENT, instead of helping us, the American People.

Lets stand up and say NO to spending for health control, instead of quality health care!
Lets stand up and say NO to cost cutting efforts that clearly put bureaucracy in front of a mothers life!

Lets go to work with those in Congress who want to bring accountability and prosperity back to us, the People of the Unites States of America! I’m proud to be an American!

To Serve For the People
When did it become okay to behave poorly, just because someone else does? When did spending money you don’t have become okay if it’s on a National level? When did it become okay to create programs that are perceived as helping the poor, but actually suppress and create dependency? When did politically correctness become more important than respecting others cultures and creating unity? There are so many more questions that I could ask, but it’s time to say, “It’s not okay!”.
Now is the time for the American people to come together and demand the type of change that creates prosperity for the American people. We need leadership in Washington that won’t go with the status quo and will call out corruption by both parties. We need individuals who will fight to create opportunity and jobs. We need individuals who care more about the country, instead of special interest and a popularity contests. The time is now and it needs to take place in the 2010 elections, before it is too late!
When elected into the House of Representatives, to serve for the great people of Georgia and this county, I will:
- Oppose big government spending and increased taxes
- Expose and fight against programs that keep people in poverty, instead of educating and providing opportunity
- Create legislation that elevates and educates the poor, creating opportunity
- Work to improve education and programs for our children
- Call out corruption on BOTH parties
- Fight to protect our country and all who serve it
- Stand up to illegal immigration policies that don’t put American Citizens first
- Look back at history for knowledge and progress so as not to divide and create fear or make the same mistakes.
I pray that you join me in my effort to help create prosperity in this nation, to create unity across our nation, and bring representation of the people back to Congress.
Politically Correct “Dumbness” Creates Intolerance & Fear
We are creating a nation of numb, dumb, intolerant individuals. A friend posted on FB today that he joined the group “It’s Christmas” not “Happy Holidays”. I agree. All this political correct garbage is teaching intolerance, not acceptance.
When did it become okay for individuals not to recognize and respect other cultures? If this country was founded on tolerance and freedom, why do we keep stripping it away? Why is it that we believe it offends one culture to say Merry Christmas, instead of thinking the individual of another culture would be happy for or respect the celebration? Did we really go to the extreme because of a few intolerant angry people?
I’m turning the table on this one. I find it disrespectful not to say “Merry Christmas” to an individual. I find it more disrespectful for an individual who does not believe in the celebration to take offense. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, have the respect to communicate what you do celebrate! If you are an individual who does not “celebrate”, well then, be tolerant of those of us who do.
Here are some great celebrations -
When I lived in San Francisco, I loved to walk through China Town during Chinese New Year. It’s an awesome celebration and one that every individual should experience.
A good friend in high school would invite me to her home during Chanukah. I really enjoyed hearing the recital of prayer, lighting one of the candles and sharing the story of a Jewish army. I felt honored that she shared her belief.
Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, heritage, unity and culture. I’m not sure how anyone could see this as an offensive holiday. I wish I had a weeklong celebration that honored my heritage. The robes worn by African Americans during Kwanzaa are beautiful.
Mawlid an-Nabi is the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad for the Muslim faith. They celebrate by focusing on the life and teachings of Muhammad, singing songs and offering special prayers. A special part of this day is remembering how Muhammad forgave even his most bitter enemies.
Vesak is the birthday of the Buddha and the most important festival in Buddhism. On the first full moon day in May, Buddhists all over the world celebrate the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha in a single day. It’s just my personal opinion that everyone needs to take some tips from this religion that is focused on leading a moral life, being mindful and aware of thoughts and actions, and developing wisdom and understanding.
Oh yes, Christmas, the commemoration of the birth of Jesus, an individual who also forgave his most bitter enemies and who taught tolerance and love. Christmas has now taken on many meanings and forms. It is celebrated throughout the Christian population and has also taken on a celebration of economic culture by many non-Christians. Whether celebrated for religious beliefs, or an economic festival, Christmas is a fabulous holiday of peace and giving.
Embracing the uniqueness of cultures and celebrating with all will bring this country closer together. Being so damn politically correct is turning our backs on the freedoms we so love and is creating a culture of intolerance and fear.
Go celebrate for religious, cultural or festive reasons – the economy needs it!
Conservative & Socialist
A Conservative and a Socialist are walking down the street. They come across a homeless man. The Conservative reaches into his pocket and gives him his business card and tells him to turn up at nine o’clock on Monday morning for a job. He then gives him two crisp ten pound notes to tide him over the weekend. A few yards later they come across another homeless man. The Socialist, having been impressed with the actions of his Conservative friend, gives the homeless man directions to the local benefits office then reaches into the Conservative’s wallet, takes out two ten pound notes and keeps one of them as an administration fee.
